Eloy Peña-Asensio has been awarded the Extraordinary Youth Award 2021 of Cartagena, his hometown, which is granted every year by the City of Cartagena through the Department of Youth. He has been received by the Mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez Noguera.

He has a degree in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Aerospace Vehicles. He has also completed a master’s degree in Astrophysics and Cosmology and another in Aerospace Science and Technology and is currently working on his doctoral thesis on meteorites at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Institute of Space Sciences (CSIC-IEEC).

«His scientific training is extremely extensive, developing from 2012 to the present, not only in Spain but also in countries such as Mexico or India,» stressed the Councillor for Youth, David Martínez Noguera. «He has also participated in international congresses of the highest level in the United States and Europe».

Eloy Peña Asensio (1991) was awarded the National Prize for the best Master’s thesis by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society. Eloy automated the shooting star analysis process for the Spanish Fireball and Meteorite Research Network (SPMN), of which he is still an active member.
He has also collaborated with several NGOs such as All Hands and Hearts, Northern Greece Volunteers, Zancadas sobre ruedas and Athens Squats Volunteers.
